It has become difficult to quantify the flood of spam. Due to latest research the number of digitally sent advertising messages is touching the magic 70 percent rate. The economic detriment caused by that is estimated at €2.5 billion Euros per year in the German Republic only. Apart from the time that needs to be wasted on tedious sorting out of emails, users have to pay for the unnecessary data transfer and the enormous storage requirement. Thus the appeal of email traffic decreases. According to a US study, spam mails have caused a fall of 25 percent in the use of email communication because of spam mails. The majority of them contain pornographic content and may also contain obscene pictures. This issue affects every company employing under-age personnel since they might be confronted with them. Lastly, the company infrastructure suffers from the increasing commercials. At worst the whole mailing system of a company can be paralysed by spam (no need to mention the economic loss).
The Limes AS puts a stop to that. The Plug & Play ready to install hardware solution is interposed between the mail server and the incoming email traffic and doesn’t let spam, viruses, worms and trojans get near the server. Thanks to the underground_8 integrated Up2Date service, the anti-spam and anti-virus signatures engines are automatically updated on an hourly basis. Graphically processed statistics display the effectiveness of the solution. The analysis mechanisms contain a twelve level anti-spam mechanism and two independent anti-virus engines.
Our central anti-spam head office systems analyse spam and checks the techniques of spammers. The results are distributed hourly via the Up2Date network and keep the Limes AS current. Thus the underground_8 appliance users are safe from outbreaks, visual and pdf-originated spam. The advantage is obvious: viruses, worms and trojans reach neither the mail server nor the client infrastructure and are stopped before entering the network and destroyed.
